This morning a rep for Lily Allen reported that the singer had a miscarriage. She was 6 months pregnant. This is the second miscarriage Lily has had when entering the third trimester.

Forbes Magazine has released its annual list of the Best Actresses for the Buck. This year, the #1 spot goes to Anne Hathaway. Studios earn $64 in profit for every $1 they pay her.

David Blaine revealed the secrets of Houdini’s escapes to the kids at the opening of The Jewish Museum’s Houdini: Art and Magic exhibit on Friday. (Aren’t magicians under some kind of code of silence?)

Saw 3D: The Final Chapter was the #1 movie this weekend taking in $24.2 million. Paranormal Activity 2 took the #2 spot followed by Red, Jackass 3D and then Hereafter.

Don’t know how many of you watched Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert’s Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, but you know it was a success because the media is doing nothing but criticizing it and coming up with lame critics. The head count came in at a little over 250,000 people but of course people are saying that those numbers are cooked up so that Glenn Beck’s rally looks smaller in comparison. Jon Stewart’s speech at the end was great. He started it by saying that these are “hard times, not end times.” Then he continued with “The image of Americans that is reflected back to us by our political and media process is false. [Americans hear] how fragile our country is, on the brink of catastrophe, torn by polarizing hate, and how it's a shame that we can't work together to get things done. The truth is, we do. We work together to get things done every damn day. The only place we don't is here or on cable TV.”

Speaking of the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear… The Rally broke Washington’s all-time record for Metro ridership on Saturday. Metro recorded 825,437 Metrorail trips on Saturday and that was even if police turning people away from some stops because of overcrowding. The previous record was 786,358 back in June 1991 when Washington played host to a victory celebration for US troops who served in the First Gulf War.

Taylor Swift shut down Hollywood Blvd on Friday to play a surprise concert on top of a double decker bus in front of Hollywood’s Kodak Theater.

Actor Kevin Aubin broke his wrists last week when rehearsing one of his stunts for the Spider-Man musical. He is the 4th person to be injured in the production.

Jon Bon Jovi said that he is thinking about putting out another solo album. The Bon Jovi tour runs through next July and then he might consider putting out an acoustic-sounding kind of record.

The University of South Carolina is offering a sociology class called Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame. I don’t think a lot of people would be skipping that class!

Legal Issues and Politics

Even though she originally told people that she locked herself in the bathroom, Charlie Sheen’s porn star Capri Anderson is suing Charlie Sheen for being “held in the bathroom against her will and having her life threatened and in danger.” Apparently, even though she didn’t tell police this, Charlie said he was going to kill her and asked her if she knew where the knife was. She is asking for $2.5 million.

Now the official report is due December 1st, but NBC News has reported that a leaked copy of the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell report shows that the majority of soldiers and their families would be okay with serving and living alongside openly gay troops. AND… of those that said they were against a repeal said that they would still stay in the military. Only a small percentage said they would leave the military. (An amount that would cost the military less than processing all those DADT cases… just saying)

The Black Eyed Peas are being sued again for plagiarizing someone’s song. Bryan Pringle is claiming that I Gotta Feeling is plagiarized from his song called Take A Dive.

While speaking in Connecticut yesterday, Obama stopped his speech to address hecklers in the crowd upset about AIDS funding: “Let me, just say this. You’ve been appearing at every rally we’ve been doing. But we’re funding global AIDS research. And the other side, the Republican side, is not. So I don’t know why you think this is a useful strategy to take. What I would suggest, what would make a lot more sense is for you guys is to go to the folks who aren’t interested in funding global AIDS and shout at their rallies. Because we’re trying to focus on figuring out how to finance the things that you want financed.”

The employees of Equality California’s Orange County office found a noose hanging from the office doorknob Thursday night. They called the police but the police just said, “What, you are upset because of this string on the door?” When the employees asked him “Do you see any correlation between the fact that this is a gay office and there was a noose left on our door,” the officer replied “Sometimes you just have to live with being a victim” and proceeded to mention that his car had been broken into before. (As if a random act of thievery is anything like a calculated act meant to convey hate and stir up fear in the heart of a minority group.)

By a 6 to 3 vote, the city council of South Bend, Indiana has voted to continue the practice of firing people because they are gay or transgender. The Council President told the council that there is no need for this law because people in South Bend would never fire someone just because they are gay. “The homosexual doesn’t need any special rights because I have not seen any documentation saying someone was fired because they were gay. Where are the lawsuits if that was the case.” (Obviously this guy is an idea because you can’t sue a company for firing you if you are gay IF they can legally fire you for being gay.) To make matters worse, he added at the end of his speech, “And I renew the offer to all those struggling with same-sex attraction to come to freedom and come to wholeness.”

The pastor of a massive Georgia church has come out, saying the recent rash of gay teen suicides made it impossible to continue living a lie. Jim Swilley, 52, founded Rockdale County’s Church in the Now twenty-five years ago. His wife, Debye, was the associate pastor, and together they had four children. Swilley says he’s known that he’s gay since he was a boy, and his wife knew when they got married. Jim and Debye are now divorced, but they kept his secret for more than 21 years. Earlier this year, Swilley says, Debye told him she thought it was time he stop living a lie. Swilley says he decided she was right after reading stories about kids being harassed by antigay bullies and committing suicide. As expected, several Christian websites and blogs are condemning Swilley, calling him “sick, twisted, and a tool of Satan.”
