Some people are upset that Janet Jackson said she will not be attending the Michael Jackson tribute concert on October 8th in Cardiff, Wales. Her reason is that it is around the same time as the Dr. Conrad Murray trial. Some fans say that the trial is September 27th and other members of Michael’s family can make so she should be there.

Thomas Beatie, the Pregnant Man, is pissed off at Chaz Bono because he wanted to be on Dancing with the Stars and since Chaz is on the show that is why he is not. Get over yourself! You aren’t a celebrity (Although, to be honest, it doesn’t look like you have to be much of a celebrity to be on DWTS)

TV/Movies/Music

The movie The Help has crossed the $100 million mark earning $100.9 million domestically. The director Tate Taylor is so thrilled because “there were times where we thought it would never get made. Everyone said that no one would go see this movie.”

According to CNET, Apple has lost an iPhone 5. (They never learn!) According to them, the phone went missing at bar Cava 22 in San Francisco’s Mission District. The police have been contacted but no phone has been found.

Last week, news of prosecutor Jeff Ashton’s planned book, Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony, was leaked and people started going crazy over it. Once publisher William Morrow made the official announcement, sales for the book boomed. In just a few short days, the book reached the #1 spot on Barnes and Noble’s sales rankings and the thing doesn’t even release until November 29th.

After a dramatic drop in ratings, David Hasselhoff has been fired from Britain’s Got Talent.

Earlier this month at a charity hockey event in Faribault, Minn., 11-year-old Nate Smith made an 89-foot shot from center ice to win $50,000. The problem was that Nate's twin brother, Nick, was the one who purchased the winning raffle ticket. When the time came to attempt the shot, Nick was outside of the arena unaware he had won, so in stepped Nate to score the miraculous goal. After the boys' father, Pat, came forward the next day and admitted to event organizers about the twins' switch, Odds on Promotions, the company that insured the event, held up awarding the prize money. On Wednesday, the company decided against giving Nate the $50,000 and instead announced it will donate $20,000 to Minnesota youth hockey in the boys' names. The exact reasoning for not awarding the money wasn't released, but more than likely it was written into the policy that the winner of the $50,000 had to be the person who purchased the ticket. Pat Smith told the Associated Press that while the boys are disappointed about losing out on the money -- which they had said they'd put towards college -- they're happy that youth hockey in Minnesota will benefit.

Legal Issues and Politics

So sad! 10 year old Jonathan James of Dallas, TX was pronounced dead at a local hospital after his parents refused him water for almost five days. Jonathan was being punished by his father and stepmother after he wet his bed. He collapsed in his home with temperatures reached 100F. He fainted in front of his brother, who told police he was too frightened to help his bro in fear of being punished himself.

The Department of Justice yesterday filed suit to block the merger of AT&T and T-Mobile, saying that if the companies were to join, millions of consumers would suffer with higher prices and fewer choices. The merger isn’t officially dead until a federal judge rules and that could take forever. But in the meantime, thousands of workers at both companies will hang on to their jobs.

Maya Angelou is a little upset about the Martin Luther King Jr. monument in Washington DC. For the sake of space, the quote on the side was paraphrased to “I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness.” Well... what he actually said was “If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter.” Maya Angelou says the paraphrase makes MLK Jr. sound like an “arrogant twit.”

If you remember last March, the FDA recalled Del Monte’s cantaloupes because of a suspected Salmonella contamination. Now Del Monte is suing the FDA and the state of Oregon saying that there was no connection and they lost money. The CDC, however, is backing the FDA up saying that they found imported Del Monte cantaloupes were the source of an outbreak that affected 20 people in the US, two of which are suing Del Monte. It would be nice if a company would put safety in front of sales. I mean, the FDA was just doing its job.

First grader Gareth Shand has received In School Suspension by his principal for having long hair and for wearing an earing! The says they will not let him out unless he cuts his hair and gets rid of the earring. The boy’s mother says that he is growing his hair out to donate it to Lock of Love for cancer patients. She also wants to know what the hell is wrong with an earring. Another reason not to live in Texas, their school systems suck.

Did you know that it is still illegal to live together in Florida if you are not married? Well, Republican Ritch Workman proposed a bill in the state legislature to repeal the law and also the adultery law.
